Instructions on use
There are 3 different ways to image a PC from Ladybug; ghost, Network or a local USB drive. It use is limited to only machines that have 512 MB of RAM or more.
The “capture” command on any operating system type is only to be used by Imaging Technician.
Windows 7 Network imaging (Apply image to workstation from Network share)
Boot disk in workstation that you want to image. Locate and document path to image to be used. ( example: \\servername\sharename\image folder ) Start\Programs\What is my\”IP Address” to verify network connection. Start\Programs\Ladybug FIREWALL\Turn off Start\Programs\Mapping\Network drive to V ( follow prompts and examples) Check mapped drive by using “Cubic Explorer” icon on desktop. Start\Programs\Disk Tools 7\Windows 7-diskpart Clean and format “S” and “W”. Start\Programs\Disk Tools 7\ Windows 7 APPLY- map drv V: to “S” and “W” drives. After image transfer has completed close command window and reboot workstation.( and check radio button to eject disk) Computer will reboot to Windows 7 sysprep process.
Windows XP Network imaging (Apply image to workstation from Network share)
Boot disk in workstation that you want to image. Locate and document path to image to be used. ( example: \\servername\sharename\image folder ) Start\Programs\What is my\”IP Address” to verify network connection. Local USB drive In most cases the use of a USB drive will be for remote imaging purposes and I will add steps in this process for such. (Techs will need to install UltraVNC client to remote to Ladybug) If actually imaging from a USB HDD, steps; 3-10 can be skipped.
Have user boot workstation with Ladybug disk. Have user connect USB HDD to workstation. Have user, go to; Start\Programs\What is my\”IP Address” and note it. Have user, go to; Start\Programs\Ladybug Firewall\ Turn Off. Have user, go to; Start\Programs\Remote to ladybug\ UltraVNC Server and start program. In UltraVNC; set authentication VNC password to the number “1”. In UltraVNC; set “Query on incoming Connections” to Accept. In UltraVNC; Click “APPLY”. Remote technician should have access and remote control at this point. In UltraVNC; Click “OK”. Start\Programs\What is my\Drive letter of my USB Drive?” and note drive letter and folder path to image using “Cubic Explorer”. Start\Programs\Mapping\Local drive to V, this is the drive letter and path in step 11. Check mapped drive by using “Cubic Explorer” icon on desktop. Depending on OS, choose steps 7-10 of the “Apply image to workstation” from steps above. Depending on OS, computer will reboot to XP or Vista/Windows 7 Sysprep process. Remote back into system after user reports workstation has rebooted or sysprepped.
Ghost Note: Ghost can be used with a ghost server or directly by mapped drive.
Boot workstation with Ladybug CD. Start\Programs\Ladybug Firewall\ Turn Off. Start\Programs\Mapping\” Network drive to V” ( follow prompts and examples) OR Start\Programs\Mapping\” Local drive to V”, ( follow Prompts ) Check mapped drive by using “Cubic Explorer” icon on desktop. Start \Programs\Ghost8. From this point Ghost can be used by mapping local drive to shared image or by using a ghost cast server session. Start\Shutdown\Restart\ Check box to eject CD and reboot. Note: Ghost can be used to capture image from workstation too.
Creating mages with Ladybug (WIM)
Windows 7 and images can be captured and returned to the same machine using BCDedit to create boot files. Windows 7 images must be “sysprepped” prior to imaging before they can be deployable to multiple machines Vista images can be captured and returned to the same machine. Vista images must be “sysprepped” prior to imaging before they can be deployable to multiple machines. XP Images can be copied, deployed to multiple same HAL machines if you use newsid.exe to make them unique GUID.
